Start Your Own Mushroom Farm

This Hands-on Course will teach you everything you need to know on how to set up a small to medium-scale outdoor mushroom farm. Learn how to cultivate strains including Turkey Tail, Artists Conk, Lions Mane, and Birch Polypore. Oyster, Beef Steak Fungi, and Shiitake.

​

Get hands-on inoculating logs while setting up a live mushroom farm. Learn the skill of medicine making and take home your medicine. Spend time looking, tasting, touching, and smelling in a session on identification and processing.  Come home with a fully comprehensive course booklet to keep referring to for years to come.

Intro: Outdoor Mushroom Growing & Community Inoculation

Two mornings, Friday and Saturday


 

 

On my home turf of Frome, im delighted to offer this bite sized course ideal for any mushroom lovers.

 

Two mornings bookable together or separately, with an option to stay on after lunch and practice the skills inoculating Vallis Veges new mushroom farm!  â€‹â€‹â€‹

Friday: Will cover Introduction to growing skills focusing on the ancient knowledge of shiitake from Japan and other edible native mushrooms including lions mane, chicken of the woods and beefsteak fungi. Learn how to site where to grow, equipment, and medicinal qualities within edible mushooms​

​

Saturday: We'll cover working and growing medicinal mushrooms, especially covering growing and using native strains and how to work with them in a way that makes their medicine biovavilable for the body. 

Morning Sessions will be held by Tasha Expert Mushroom Grower, Assisted by Tito  ​from Vallis Veg. Lunch Provided by Land, Food and Medicine, all course attendees can stay on for community inoculation. Or you can join community inoculation for free both afternoons. Held by Tito.

Saturday 7th June 
 
Wild Nutrition, Coast 
Taught By Tasha Elena and Daniel Lees

​An immersive and wild experience on the Island of Portland. This unique course is taught within and along the coastal line of the sea. Combining coasteering, foraging and wild nutrition. â€‹â€‹

​

Daniel, a qualified expert in Coasteering and will guide us as we navigate the rocks, the water and the edges where so much interesting seaweed and sea life is available to witness and taste. Tasha his co-teacher holds 15 years experience of wild food, wild tending and working with these amazing indigenous ingredients in professional kitchens. Tasha will guide connecting to the amazing power of the sea and how to use the harvest alongside Daniel.​

​

Finish the day  learning to preserve and cook with the Wild Coast ingredients. Finishing in a celebration of delicious feast of wild delights that have been harvested in the morning.
